"Growing up I was always in pretty good shape. I was a cheerleader in high school and even joined the US Air Force. I met my husband and we got married, had a house and two small kids. I was still in pretty good shape. But once I hit the big '3-0' the weight started to pile on. I soared to over 220 pounds and figured this was the way my life was going to be - fat. But one day that all changed. I decided enough was enough and took it upon myself to do something about it. I joined a club and went to town to drop 75 pounds. It all came off in about nine months. I was thrilled. However, after a while I found the weight creeping back on. We moved from Michigan to Wisconsin, and I found a new health club. I started working there teaching aerobics, but I still had a hard time keeping the weight off. Then one day my boss came to me and said, 'You and I are going to get certified in this Apex Program I keep hearing about.' "I said,'OK', and my life has never been the same! "Apex did for me what no other program has ever done. It asked what were my specific goals, what foods I liked to eat, what my lifestyle was, and what I wanted to achieve. It gave me very specific answers to my needs. Apex took the guess work out of my food intake, my workouts and my supplements. My time was spent more efficiently and I was never really hungry. Success Story Update: Laura Holmes 7/19/2005 I would like to give you a quick update on my Apex Success. I have moved on from fitness competitions to triathlons (sprints – ¼ mile swim, 15 – 22 miles bike ride and a 3.1 mile run, I hate running, but I do it). I am always looking for something fun and new to do with my fitness abilities. I have discovered that anyone can do anything they set their minds to. With a little commitment and determination you can make anything happen for yourself. I love to train for my triathlons. I found it takes a lot of extra energy, so in return I can eat more energy, (FOOD)! Got to love that! I want you to know that I am just like anyone else who is looking to get into shape or stay on top of their health and fitness. It is not always easy. I find myself asking the question – how bad do I really want this? Self discipline, I found, is the key. It’s what will keep you going! (especially when it comes to that run!)
