I am pleased to write to you about how the bodybugg™ program has helped me eat healthier, exercise more, and lose weight. At age 58, I was very skeptical of any methods or fads to lose those stubborn 10-20 pounds that I had accumulated over the last 20 years. Like most women, I had tried many diets on a short term basis with little success. I just couldn't stick with any of them. My busy lifestyle did not permit me to constantly prepare special foods just for me, while cooking for the rest of my family. I had always exercised regularly at a fitness center, walked several miles almost daily, worked full-time as en elementary teacher, tried to eat healthy food, was active in gardening, outdoor sports, taking care of our home, and participating in many family activities. But something was missing in my efforts to lose even 5 pounds. After much consideration, and talking to a few successful bodybugg™ users, I finally took a chance on the complete bodybuggTM program on April 13, 2006. Gretchen, my coach at Pleasant Valley Fitness Center, really encouraged me and helped me use the system to my best advantage. She had already been successful in using the bodybugg™, so I knew her advice was based on actual, positive results. What helped me most was to know every day how many calories I was both consuming and burning. It made so much sense to me. The simplicity of knowing if my activity log reached a higher number than my food log offered constant feedback each day. That information helped me stay on track with my exercise and food plan. I began to feel physically better within a week. I also felt less water retention from eating a pared down diet of mainly vegetables, protein and some fruit. To be honest, the first 5 pounds were not easy to lose, even after scaling down to about 1500 calories or less each day. My body really fought the weight loss. With Gretchen's support and my own determination to make the program work, I held on, and in two month's time I had lost 10 pounds. This may not seem like a lot of weight, but I could feel it on my waist, tummy, and hips especially. I actually have lost two inches each of my waist, hips and upper thighs. I can wear a smaller size of clothing, and I feel so much better about my appearance. I will admit that I was hungry many times in the first 5-6 weeks. Now I have found a variety of better food choices to get me through cravings without gaining any weight back. In fact, in June, soon after I had met my first goal of 10 pounds, my husband and I went on a 2 week vacation in Alaska. I was very worried about eating regular food and not wearing the bodybugg™. I am happy to report that I did not gain a pound of weight back on our trip. My husband says that I seem to be eating smaller portions, and I feel my body does not crave as much food as I was eating before. Now it has been another month since my trip. I have been maintaining and have even lost another 2 pounds. I am not as strict with my food choices as I was earlier, but I feel good that I can eat out again without gaining back the weight that I have worked so hard to lose. If I burn between 2200-2500 calories a day I can easily maintain without really feeling deprived. I try to keep my daily caloric intake at about 1500, some days higher, some days lower. In September I plan to go into losing mode again and try for another 5-10 pounds. Now I am happy to have found a way to both lose weight and maintain a healthy weight. Having found a program that so accurately helps me match my metabolism to weight loss and/or maintenance has been amazing to me. At 136 lbs I am at an appropriate weight for my height (5'3") and age, and it feels so good. Thank you, bodybugg™! Starting weight: 148 lbs
