The following frequently asked questions provide basic information about the bodybugg® system. Current users should also refer to the faqs included on the member's site for specific information on technical information and troubleshooting.

Do I need a computer to use bodybugg®?
Yes, you will need to use a computer that has high-speed internet access in order to utilize the bodybugg® system.

What are the technical requirements to run the bodybugg® program?
The computer you use to access the Internet will need to have the following features:

  • PC with USB Port (multiprocessor systems not supported)
  • Microsoft Windows Vista, XP SP2, or 2000 SP4 (32 bit operating systems only. 64 bit operating systems are not supported at this time)
  • 256MB RAM or higher
  • System software
  • Internet access (high-speed preferred)
  • Internet Explorer 6.0 or later (AOL and Firefox browsers are not supported at this time)
  • Internet Settings: allow cookies, pop-ups and Javascript
  • Required Plug Ins: FREE Adobe Acrobat Reader, FREE Adobe Flash Player
  • Ongoing subscription to the bodybugg web application

Is the program supported by mac?
Currently, our software/hardware does not support the Mac Operating System. If you have a newer Mac which features the Intel Core Duo Processor, you can install one of the following software applications (these will allow you to then install and run the Windows XP Operating System on your Mac). What happens when my initial 3 month subscription expires?
There are several renewal options currently available, if you decide to extend your subscription:

  • Month to month recurring ($14.95)
  • 1 month (29.95)
  • 3 months ($39.95)
  • 12 months ($99.95)

Is there a warranty that comes with the armband?
Yes, the armband comes with a one-year warranty. Please note: water damage is not covered by the warranty.

A friend gave me their old bodybugg®. What do I do now?
You will need to purchase a web-only program. With this you'll receive 2 bodybugg® coaching sessions to help you learn how to use the program as well as a 3-month web subscription (see subscription renewal options above). During your first session, you'll just need to tell your bodybugg® coach that you actually have an armband, and he/she will make any necessary adjustments to your account.

What is the Return Policy?
bodybugg program with armband: If you're not happy with your bodybugg, and you purchased it online at www.bodybugg.com or www.myapex.com, simply contact our Customer Service department at 800 656 2739. If you purchased your bodybugg in a fitness facility or from another retailer, you will need to contact that retailer in order to return your bodybugg. Retailers’ return policies may differ from our return policy.

Unopened armbands: If you purchased your armband from www.bodybugg.com or www.myapex.com, you may return your unopened and unused armband within 30 days of your activation date, we will refund your purchase price less the cost of completed coaching sessions and shipping.

bodybugg Web Only program (no armband): Returns on Web Only programs must be requested within 30 days of your purchase date, and will be prorated based on the amount of time remaining on your web subscription.

bodybugg Subscription Renewals: All subscription renewals are final and non-refundable.

Device Questions Answered

Can I use the bodybugg® system online without the bodybugg® armband?
Yes. Actually, the online program is the foundation of the bodybugg® system. based on your body mass change, the system will determine your actual calorie deficit (or surplus) on a daily basis, based on a one-week average. To help you stay on track without the bodybugg® device, there's an easy-to-use food logging function with a food autosearch so you can keep track of calories taken in. There's also an exercise calculator with hundred of activities to choose from to determine how many calories you've burned through the bodybugg® online interface you can customize and print your menus as well as view and print your exercise programs. There are also several informative articles to help you stay on track.

Can one bodybugg® armband be used by multiple people?
No, we do not recommend multiple users on one bodybugg® armband. each armband is linked to a particular bodybugg® online program. Having multiple users wearing the same device would negate the accuracy and effectiveness of the overall bodybugg® program.

Do I have to wear the bodybugg® device 24 hours a day?
We recommend wearing the armband as much as possible during waking hours. the more you wear your bodybugg®, the more accurate and effective you will be at maintaining your calorie deficit goal. During low activity level periods of time (such as sleeping), the program will estimate your calorie burn at rest, based on your body parameters, so it is not 100% necessary to wear to sleep.

How do I wear the bodybugg®?
the bodybugg® is designed to be worn on the back of the upper right arm (the tricep), against the skin and under your clothes.

  • Make sure that your upper right arm is clean and dry. You should not wear any lotion or body oil that touches the bodybugg®.
  • Strap the bodybugg® onto the back of your upper right arm with the logo facing up.
  • Adjust the strap so that it fits on your arm comfortably, and secure the pull-tab. flex the arm a few times to make sure that the strap is neither too tight not too loose. it should be snug, but comfortable.
  • be careful not to over-tighten the bodybugg®. if you feel constricted or loss of circulation, simply loosen the strap and re-fasten it to a more comfortable setting.

Why is the bodybugg® more accurate than a pedometer?
The bodybugg® is more accurate than a pedometer for calculating calories burned because it is "watching" your body from four different perspectives. A pedometer only measures steps. in addition to measuring motion and steps, the bodybugg® is able to see how much you are sweating, your skin temperature and the rate at which heat is being dissipated from your body. these additional physiological parameters give the bodybugg® a more complete picture of what your body is doing and its level of exertion, all of which means a much more accurate estimation of your calories burned.

Does the bodybugg® measure my heart rate?
Not at this time.

Does the bodybugg® come in any other colors?
Not at this time.

Can I get the bodybugg® wet?
The bodybugg® should be protected from water and should be removed before showering, bathing or swimming.

Does the bodybugg® armband track what I eat?
No, the armband itself tracks the calories you burn, but not the calories you eat. Your calories consumed are calculated by the bodybugg® interface based on your weekly body mass change. To better stay on track of your calorie input, the program also offers an easy-to-use food log so you can monitor the calories you eat throughout the day.
